Staycation: the art of holidaying at home

Since 2020, more than ever, the concept of staycation (vacations at home) is in vogue! But ... how do you get away from it all without leaving home? It's not so complicated, really. All you have to do is change your mindset, create a relaxing spot on your terrace or balcony and invite some exotic plants into your home.

Staycation: escape without going far

Taking a vacation without going far. This year, many of us won't be traveling, or will only be taking short trips. So how can we make sure we still feel like we're on vacation?

It's all a question of spirit and curiosity! There's so much to do close to home...

  • (re)discover nearby places on foot or by bike;
  • travel through flavors and culinary concepts;
  • immerse yourself in travel books and films from the comfort of your terrace;
  • disconnect, take care of yourself, without feeling guilty ...

And to add a touch of exoticism to this "motionless" journey, there's nothing like inviting nature into your home with a few pretty plants and some cool decor. Why not paint a wall of your balcony or terrace in a peppy or sunny color, and add a few exotic plants, colorful cushions and a tray with refreshing drinks... the vacations can begin! 😉

Invite nature into your home

Take advantage of the vacations at home to get out your gardening tools! There's nothing like de-stressing and reconnecting with nature. Ideal for forgetting you're not away.

Start with a trip to the garden center and treat yourself to some out-of-the-ordinary plants. Bright colors or spectacular blooms. Give your terrace or balcony a different look. You'll create the perfect spot to spend summer evenings in your own bubble.

Bring the jungle into your home

And even if you don't have a garden or terrace, bring nature into your home! Go for an XXL green plant. Some of them have amazing shapes and will transform your living room into an urban jungle.

  • Monstera deliciosa: It can grow from 1 to 3 m tall with proper care: subdued light, large pot, well-drained substrate, regular but moderate watering.
  • Beaucarnea or elephant's foot: It can reach 1 to 2 m in height. Very easy to care for, provided two things are taken into account: it likes to be cramped and can't stand excess water.
  • All varieties of palm. Ask for advice to find out which is best suited to the location you've chosen. Some are very easy to care for.
