Watering your potted plants or balcony planters is a pure moment of relaxation, but it can also be a real headache when you're away, on vacation or forget to do it. Fortunately, a simple accessory can save the day for gardeners in a hurry!
The harmonious growth of your potted plants, whether at home or in the garden, on the terrace or balcony, depends, among other things, on regular watering. This is one of the basic rules of container gardening. Indeed, some plants do not take kindly to neglect. To avoid this, a number of more or less automatic or sophisticated watering systems are available: from rather unsightly water bottles to more complex micro-watering systems.
Garden ID offers you a simple, elegant solution: attractive water diffusers to plant in your pots and planters. Water is delivered to the plant via a microporous ceramic cone, when it's needed - no more, no less.
An age-old sprinkler system
Perhaps you've already heard of ollas or oyas, the small earthenware jars used since antiquity in certain regions. The oldest traces of them can be found in China and Corsica (4000 years old). We also know that the Romans adored them. Even today, gardeners and farmers in many African and Asian countries use them to irrigate their plantations.
This gentle watering is a way of combating over-irrigation. Water is diffused by capillary action, as and when the soil needs it. Depending on size and use, diffusers can be planted (small format, in pots and planters) or buried (large format, in the vegetable garden or backyard).
Easy, economical watering
Microporous ceramic water diffusers ensure regular watering of your plants. They also provide a welcome water reserve when you're away on vacation.
This type of gentle watering creates a humid zone around the plant without soaking the soil or rotting the roots.
Instructions for use: First water the plant as usual. Then press the diffuser into the humus soil. Finally, fill the reservoir with preferably non-calcareous water.
Diffusers are an excellent way to hydrate your plants. The frequency with which diffusers need to be refilled varies according to their size and the volume of the pot: between 3 and 7 days depending on the case.
Perfectly suited to small indoor pots as well as large balcony or terrace planters, they can be slipped into all crops: potted vegetables, potted herbs, flowers and shrubs.
The decorative touch of ceramic diffusers
There are all kinds of diffusers on the market, often made of plastic. The advantage of ceramic diffusers is that the upper part can take on different shapes and colors, adding a decorative element to your arrangements and planters.
How to use water diffusers
- Fill with clean water to avoid clogging the pores of the pot.
- Preferably use non-calcareous water
- Do not use when it is freezing (risk of breakage)-.
- Long-term use: 3 to 5 years minimum
- Clean at least once a year. Simply hose down or clean by hand.
